I hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day! My boys had a blast at the Pickens County Rodeo - wasn't my first rodeo, but, well... you know! They were a little distracted by the kids' mechanical bull ride, rock climbing wall, and tractors...but they saw a good portion of the "show". Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20 - Marietta Greek Festival

The 22nd annual Marietta Greek Festival  celebrates Greek traditions, culture and food.  A wide variety of Greek food will be available for purchase (kids menu too). The Hellenic Dance Program will perform throughout the festival. The program is comprised of six dance groups that cover pre-k through 12th grade as well as a young adult group. The performances begin with traditional dance shows during the day, and more modern dance club hits at the end of the evening. The event also features a Greek marketplace with more than 20 vendors with items including Greek jewelry, handmade linens, art and more.

Kiddie Gardener Series at Smith-Gilbert Gardens. Every Second & Fourth Friday. A time for kids to come hear a garden related story, sing, create art and walk around the gardens. The Atlanta Jazz Festival is regarded as one of the Country’s largest FREE jazz festivals.  In addition to the main performers, look for the Youth Jazz Band Competition. Two KidZone areas will offer family-friendly fun from Noon – 6pm each day. Activities will include sports like soccer and basketball, a cooling tent where popular cartoons will be screened each day, face painters, inflatables and the ever popular hula hoops! The Big Adventure gives children the opportunity to test their abilities, both mentally and physically! Children will explore Adventure Mountain and The Tunnels of Fun, where they  will climb a six-foot wall of rocks, crawl through dark tunnels and, finally, reach the Crow’s Nest for a bird’s eye  view of the other adventures throughout the exhibit. Children can fly through the air on the Virtual Flyer, a kid-size airplane that requires team work - and much more!

Tom and Huck didn't use fancy fishing gear on the Mississippi. Fishing poles made of river cane with a cork bobber and a hook on the end of the line waiting to be baited will be provided. We all know how important sunscreen is, but thought I’d share a few tips and facts with you all!

While sunscreen is important to use year round, we tend to spend a lot more time outdoors in the sunshine during the summertime, so be prepared!

Strawberry Cream Cheese Shortcake

This super easy recipe is an easy and delicious twist on traditional Strawberry Shortcake.

Ingredients:

1 Box White or Yellow Cake Mix
3 Eggs
1 8 oz. Package Softened Cream Cheese
¼ cup All Purpose Flour
2 Quarts of Strawberries
¼ cup Granulated Sugar
Whipped Cream

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

Wash and cut up fresh strawberries, mix in a bowl with granulated sugar and set aside
