Keeping The Faith

Plus, What's New With Macaroni Kid...

By Michelle Sisco April 21, 2011

In this week, some of us celebrate Easter, some Passover, some Mother Earth. I was raised Jewish, and I spent last night at an event I would never have imagined I'd attend - The 42nd Annual Dove Awards, Gospel and Christian music's biggest night of the year.  I had my PR hat on, and was working backstage escorting talent and assisting media. But, I had the opportunity to watch rehearsals and see most of the show as well. I'll tell you now - it was fun!

Sherri Shepherd (The View, 30 Rock) was hosting, so you can imagine there were funny moments to be had. And it was a star-studded event with not only famous names in the world of Christian and Gospel music (Third Day, LeCrae, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Francesca Battistelli...), but also familiar names to me like the legendary Kenny Rogers (who did not sing The Gambler, I might add), Tim Tebow and Greg Jennings of the NFL, Hercules actor Kevin Sorbo, actress Kim Fields, Mandisa and Reuben Studdard (originally of American Idol fame), Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child, Leigh Anne Tuohy in a bedazzled Michael Oher jersey "gown," (think The Blind Side), and even Governor Nathan Deal. Yes, truly a mixed bag!

The Dove Awards represent a wide-array of musical styles ranging from Adult Contemporary, Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, Inspirational, Pop, Rap/Hip-Hop, Rock, Spanish Language, Urban
and Worship categories. And if  you're a music fan and aren't familiar with these artists, I say take a listen. I'm certainly not planning on converting any time soon, but I can appreciate good music, and a good show. The Dove Awards will air on GMC TV this Sunday, April 24th at 7pm ET.  I won't deny, it is indeed uplifing entertainment! For more, visit http://www.watchgmctv.com/

Now, on to this week's business! Literally, I'd like to welcome two new members of the "Biz Directory" as I like to call it, seeing as that's how it's labeled on the top of the website. Joining us are Pampered Chef Independent Consultant Hilary MacIsaac (who is giving away a mighty nice prize I might add), and photographer Laura Leigh (her work is currently featured on the cover of Our Town Magazine this month). Click on their names to go directly to their business directory listings. And of course, make sure you don't forget to browse the business directory on occasion - you never know what you might find!

Several new camps have been added to the Summer Camp Directory - see the article below. Among them are Camp Broadway, Fox Theatre Rising Stars, and Summer Programs at Lovett School. So, if you haven't registered your kids yet, don't worry! There's still time to do it!

Finally, I don't think I have to mention this because if you look at the next article, you'll see Macaroni Deals is coming. I believe that you can NEVER have too many good deals, so I'll still be keeping you informed, via our FACEBOOK page, of other great deals from sites like famgrab and living social. But I am excited to have some deals of my own. Read on!

We're headed to Asheville tomorrow for the holiday weekend. We've been invited by the Inn on Biltmore Estate to come experience their Easter Weekend festivities, which include, of course, an egg hunt. But I think the kids and I are most excited about the Grape Stomp at the winery! I'll be sure to tell you all about it when we get home.

Until then, read on, and have a fabulous weekend. Enter those giveaways!!!
