FIVE

May 13, 2010

FIVE. Drew turns five this week. Which means he’s going to kindergarten. My “little” baby boy, born May 18, 2005, weighing in at 9lbs 12 oz (yep). He’s now a walking, talking, KID - with attitude to boot. Jack has a Macaroni Munchkin t-shirt. Drew tells me he wants a Macaroni KID t-shirt. I’d better hurry up or he’ll be a Macaroni Tween at the rate things are going. I don’t know if he’s going to be a rock star one day (good chance), an MLB slugger (he’s got potential), or a scientist (boy loves those experiments!), but I do know he’s already old enough to have his own thoughts on the subject. He’s even got his wife picked out. Luckily I approve. So, in honor of Drew’s upcoming birthday, here are 5 things you need to know this week:

1) Congrats to the winners of last week’s giveaways. Clearly, you all want more GROWNUP stuff so I’m on it!  Katie Johnson is the winner of the Glenn Hotel “Luckie in Love” Package. Enjoy your staycation! Morgan Shimp and Michelle Rojas – Have fun at Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta. Caroline Taylor – Keep those boys safe with their new arm.ID.illo bandz. Jennifer Palcher-Silliman – Enjoy the naked puppets of "Avenue Q" (just please don’t bring Harper!).

2) "The Vampire Diaries" season finale is tonight (Thursday) at 8pm on The CW. Great stuff. Disclaimer: I’ve done some PR for the show. But really, great stuff!

3) This week we have 3 giveaways (all in separate articles below). Tickets for "Storytime Live!" (featuring Dora!); passes to Allure of the Automobile at the High, coupled with a polo shirt from the Original Happy Car; and finally a chance to view a sneak preview of the season 2 premiere of Lifetime’s "Drop Dead Diva" and see the cast in person.

4) If you’re looking for a summer camp for your kids, be sure to check out the camp directory towards the end of the newsletter. If you’ve already chosen a camp, tell your camp director to check out Macaroni Kid and contact me to get listed!

5) I’m putting this issue to bed 10 hours earlier than last week. Major accomplishment!

As always, thanks to the advertisers who help keep Macaroni Kid up and running. Please check out their ads and support these local businesses!
