Win a Baseball Clinic with Braves' Players!

Play Ball with the Braves June 19 at Ladies-Only Clinic

June 10, 2010

Bat-her up! (Sorry, but I couldn't resist.) I know that many of you are Little League moms like me, and while I may be one of the biggest baseball fans around, throw a ball my way and I'm likely to put my hands over my face and duck. SO, when the Atlanta Braves offered me the chance to participate in an on-field clinic with actual players, I was incredibly excited- while at the same time envisioning a painful trip to the ER. But, I can do this! My kids will benefit if I can hone my skills just enough to at least play a decent game of catch. And really, how can I turn down an afternoon ON Turner Field with Braves players teaching me what I need to know. Better yet, two of you get to join me! We’ll form a Smyrna League of Our Own next Saturday, June 19th.

Here’s the scoop! Macaroni Kid is giving away 2 Outfield Packages for "Baseball 101"  to 1 subscriber (in other words, the winning subscriber gets to bring a friend). Each package is valued at $112 and includes:

• An on-field clinic with Braves players, Q & A with a guest panel, lunch, a Baseball 101 t-shirt, and a Braves gift bag with an autographed item. The clinic is Saturday, June 19th from 10-2pm.

• Two tickets (so 4 tickets) to that night’s game – Braves vs. Kansas City at 7pm.

Who’ll be there? So far Braves pitchers Kris Medlen, Jonny Venters, and Eric O’Flaherty are confirmed. Three position players will be announced soon. And these guys won’t just BE there, they will be leading the hitting drills in the Braves batting cages, pitching in the bullpen, and fielding with you in the outfield. How’s that?

So, who wants to join me next Saturday? To enter the contest, you must be a Macaroni Kid subscriber (18 & over only!) Email me at michelles@macaronikid.com with subject “Baseball 101” by Tuesday, June 15th at 8am with your full name AND phone number. I’ll contact you that day to confirm participation. If I can’t reach you by 8am Wednesday, I’ll have to choose another winner. Once chosen, you can give the second package to a friend!

Want more chances to win? For each new subscriber you refer to Macaroni Kid, you'll get 2 additional entries. Just make sure they put YOUR NAME in the "How Did you Hear About Us" box. (You’ll also automatically be entered into the Subscriber Drive contest for the $50 Barnes & Noble gift card.)

Now, here’s more information on Baseball 101. If you don’t win, there are still some spots left, so you can sign yourselves up!

Women who want to learn more about America’s national pastime and hone their baseball skills can register now for Baseball 101 presented by Publix Super Markets. The clinic will take place on Saturday, June 19 at Turner Field, and ladies 18 years of age and older can sign up online by CLICKING HERE or contacting the Braves Community Affairs Department at (404) 494-1020.

Baseball 101 offers women the opportunity to learn batting, fielding, and pitching skills from Braves players. The clinic will end with an exclusive behind the scenes tour of Turner Field.

Women are encouraged to register soon as space is limited.  Registration, which includes two tickets to that night’s 7:00 p.m. game vs. the Kansas City Royals, is $82 for the Upper Box Package and $112 for the Outfield Package with proceeds benefiting the Atlanta Braves Foundation and the Doris Shaheen Breast Health Center at Piedmont Hospital. In addition to the on-field clinic with Braves players and two tickets to that night’s game, the registration fee includes lunch, a Baseball 101 t-shirt, and a Braves gift bag with an autographed item.
