The local attraction is about to celebrate its fifth anniversary (time flies!), and less than six months ago it introduced The Vault of the Secret Formula Exhibit, where visitors learn about the most closely guarded trade secret in history through an immersive multimedia experience that celebrates the rich history, mythology and intrigue around the secret formula. The Vault of the Secret Formula
Drew has been asking, about every week, to visit The World of Coca-Cola. So I may suprise him with a trip on the last day of school. It's been a couple years since he was last there, and neither of us has seen the new Vault of The Secret Formula exhibit. I was told it's very kid-friendly and interactive, so I'm looking forward to taking him as a special treat.
Features of the exhibit experience include:
- A virtual Taste Maker where you can try to match the perfectly balanced taste of Coca-Cola
- A fun zone where you can read about all the myths and legends surrounding the secret formula
- A full-body interactive game that takes you to the locations where the secret formula has been kept
- A new mobile storytelling experience where you can use your smartphone to deepen your knowledge of the secrets behind the secret
What's so cool? You can get within just a few feet of the actual vault containing the 125-year-old secret formula for Coca-Cola for the first time in history! In December, The Coca-Cola Company moved the 125-year-old secret formula for Coca-Cola to its new home at the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta. CLICK HERE for a sneak peak and more information too.
Some History:
After Dr. John S. Pemberton invented Coca-Cola in 1886, the formula was kept a close secret, only shared with a small group and not written down. In 1891, Asa Candler became the sole proprietor of Coca-Cola after purchasing the rights to the business. Then, in 1919, Ernest Woodruff and a group of investors purchased the Company from Candler and his family. To finance the purchase Woodruff arranged a loan and as collateral he provided documentation of the formula by asking Candler's son to commit the formula to paper. This was placed in a vault in the Guaranty Bank in New York until the loan was repaid in 1925. At that point, Woodruff reclaimed the secret formula and returned it to Atlanta and placed it in the Trust Company Bank, now SunTrust, where it remained until its recent move to the World of Coca-Cola.
Guests to the World of Coca-Cola can feel closer than ever before to the secret formula. At The Vault of the Secret Formula exhibit, visitors will learn about the most closely guarded trade secret in history through an immersive multimedia experience that celebrates the rich history, mythology and intrigue around the secret formula.
The World of Coca-Cola is located at 121 Baker Street in Pemberton Place, adjacent to the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta and is accessible via the Peachtree Center or CNN/ World Congress Center MARTA stations.
