CIAO!

August 12, 2010

So, this week I’m obsessed with food. And apparently I have an Italian theme going on too. Tuesday night I attended an advance screening of “Eat, Pray, Love,” and a tasty pre-screening reception at Taverna Fiorentino (Thank you cinemoms.com!). I actually never finished the book, but I was interested in the movie, and it’s definitely good for a girl’s night out. Now I really want to go to Italy for pasta...and pizza. Of course I want to go to Bali too – but then, who doesn’t?

Today I received a package of Mezetta products (black olives, red peppers, sweet chili peppers, jalapeno peppers, sun dried tomatoes…). I’m supposed to create my own sandwich recipe and enter it into the “Mezzetta Make That Sandwich Recipe Contest.” Sounds like fun. Not to mention the grand prize is $25,000 and a trip for two to Napa Valley...so I might as well give it a shot. If I come up with anything good, I’ll be sure to include my recipe here in the next few weeks! But this isn’t just for me – you can enter the contest too by going to www.makethatsandwich.com. If you win, you just need to take me to Napa with you! Or at least share your sandwich recipe with us…

To round out the Italian theme, I’ll be having more pizza this weekend when I host a viewing party of “Nanny McPhee” (the original), starring Emma Thompson. The goal, of course, is to help promote “Nanny McPhee Returns,” which will be in theatres on August 20th. I haven’t seen “Nanny McPhee,” so I don’t know if there are any Italian references or not, but it seemed like a good enough reason to have pizza (and popcorn of course).

I’m getting hungry again so I think I’ll wrap this up now. Ciao! (as in, chow down!)
