Plus Taste of Smyrna and More Festival Fun This Weekend!

Looking for outdoor fun this weekend? There are festivals galore, so get out and enjoy the beautiful weather (should be according to the forecast)!

MARIETTA STREETFEST

This Saturday Sept. 15th, the 21st Marietta StreetFest returns to historic Marietta Square with plenty of outdoor fun including some expanded offerings. Think music, kids and cars!

The Marietta Museum of History presents Marietta StreetFest, a one-day event with a top-notch Arts, Crafts & Antiques Market, the Hubcaps and History Classic Car Show, the new Jewelry Row and a chance to visit the delightful neighborhood restaurants, shops and historic sites found around the Square.

For the first time, Marietta StreetFest features the Children’s Zone with inflatables, make-n-take projects and interactive games. It’s all the fun a kid could ask for. Some activities may require a small fee. For adults looking for their next favorite piece of jewelry, a visit to Jewelry Row will offer more than 15 booths filled with various styles and price ranges.

This year, Marietta StreetFest also welcomes the Marietta Grassroots Festival, featuring bands and singer/songwriters from throughout the metro area who will perform original music. Marietta Grassroots was founded in 2009 as an outreach program to provide safe, family friendly events and activities with a special focus on showcasing local talent from Marietta and the surrounding communities.

Visitors the day of StreetFest will also receive free admission to the Marietta Museum of History. Marietta StreetFest was named a Southeastern Tourism Society Top 20 Event for 2012!

TASTE OF SMYRNA

Taste of Smyrna “Festival of Delectable” is coming to satisfy palates, quench your thirst, fulfill your need for music & entertainment and please the kids, all in one day! You will be able to sample over 30 Smyrna restaurants on the Village Green and Market Village in downtown Smyrna this Saturday, September 15th.

Admission is FREE and samples can be purchased from $1.00 up to $4.00 each. Festival hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (fireworks begin at dusk).

Plan to sample all Smyrna’s finest restaurants and maybe a food truck or two, and listen to music all day long. There will be acoustic music from Scott Thompson from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. adjacent to the Veteran’s Memorial, and then Jon Byrd will continue the music in front of City Hall from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A concert with the Francisco Vidal Band will wrap the night up on the main stage followed by fireworks.

Restaurants participating will include Atkins Park, Marlow’s Tavern, Zucca Bar & Pizzeria, The Melting Pot, Copeland's, Williamson Bros. BBQ, Garrison's, Cowlicks Yogurt and Floats, Kenny's Great Pies, Marietta Fish Market, Siracusa's NY Pizzeria, Siam Square Thai and more to tempt your taste buds. The Taste of Smyrna bottled water and soft drink sales will benefit the Smyrna Education Foundation!

Kids will have a blast in the Kids Zone with interactive inflatables from a Quad Bungee, Rockwall, inflatable slides, bouncies, obstacle courses and much more.

EAST COBBER PARADE & FESTIVAL

Saturday, September 15th marks the event's 17th year! The parade begins at 10am with the festival to follow from 11am – 3pm. There will be food, entertainment, arts & crafts exhibits, booths from local vendors and civc groups, carnival games and more.

FALL ARTS FESTIVAL ON PONCE


“Fall Festival on Ponce” will host up to 175 (mostly) local artists and crafters in the chain of parks along Ponce de Leon Ave. This is second year the famed Olmsted parks will be feted with art. Visitors will enjoy fine art and crafts, a children’s area, Street Market and local food and beverage concessions including gourmet food trucks. This event is organized by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces and volunteer artists to benefit the local community including the Olmsted Linear Park Alliance and the Paideia School.

FIRST ANNUAL TASTE OF THE TRUCKS

On Saturday, Sept. 15th, the top food trucks from all over Georgia will be here in Atlanta for the biggest food truck festival Atlanta has ever seen. Entertainment, bands, arts and craft vendors, parking, food galore and loads of fun! It’s all for a great cause. So bring the family, bring your friends and you better bring your appetite! Bring your lawn chairs. Atlanta Taste of The Trucks will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Children’s Restoration Network serving homeless children in Georgia.
