Consignment Shopping for YOU!

What You Should Know About Today's Consignment Shops! (GREAT SHOPPING!)

By Nina Sonsini, Then Again Consignments September 12, 2012
Ladies live to keep their wardrobes and accessories current, but soaring retail prices and a shaky economy have forced women to look elsewhere for designer digs.

Trendy chicks are turning to consignment shops to get their fashion fix on the cheap!

Leary about buying second-hand items? Don’t be. We’ve addressed some of the most common questions and misconceptions about consignment to put your mind at ease:

1) What’s a consignment shop?
Consignment shops sell pre-owned merchandise on the owner’s behalf.
All items are hand-selected and carefully examined by the shop before they are accepted.
When the items sell, the owner (consignor) receives a percentage of the sale price.

2) Items are pre-owned? Why would I want to purchase used things?
“Pre-owned”, but not necessarily used. On average, more than 25% of consigned merchandise is NEW WITH TAGS because women often overbuy, can’t resist sales, forget to return items, buy multiples… the list is endless.
In the case of previously worn items, most stores set high standards and follow strict guidelines to ensure previously worn items are clean, current and free of odors or damage.
Visit a shop just to take a look – while you don’t have to buy anything, we bet you will!

3) Aren’t consignment shops packed tight with smelly clothes?
We sure hope not! Women expect more from today’s consignment shops - cleanliness and organization top the list. These days, many consignment shops are set up like fine boutiques with rich décor, dazzling displays and even loyalty programs for frequent shoppers. This is serious business, ladies!

4) Don’t consignment shops only sell women’s clothes?
Each consignment shop has its own target audience. Most feature ladies’ apparel but other shops specialize in menswear or children’s items and even home furnishings.
Then Again Consignments specializes in “better” brands for women, while our friends at Labels Resale Boutique in Vinings cater to those craving the finest couture items from the world’s leading designers of men’s and women’s apparel.

5) What if I want to consign?
So we caught your attention! No harm in making a little extra money while getting those closets tidy.
There is always a need for new merchandise and many shops offer consignors special perks like shopping discounts, special in-store events and sneak previews of new or featured items.

So now you know! And whether you decide to shop or consign, your closet will thank you!
