I've written two articles about Barnsley Gardens over the last month, so you shouldn't be TOO surprised that the GRAND PRIZE giveaway for the holidays is a two-night stay at one of my favorite getaways. Designed in the style of an English Village and set in the Georgia countryside, Barnsley Gardens Resort offers a full complement of sporting and recreational amenities and is famous for its historic gardens among the ruins. The resort also features a Fairy Godmother, whose sole job is to enhance guests’ stays with her magical touch and creative special activities. Request a romance spell, or perhaps an adventure kit for your children. Golfing, tennis, bikes, horseback riding, hiking, lawn games (think badminton, croquet and frisbee golf), canoeing and even paintball are activities to be enjoyed. Have a catered picnic on the grounds. Like hunting/shooting? Springbank Plantation is a unique hunting preserve that features a 16-station sporting clays course. Enjoy the spa? Get there! Relaxing is just fine too.
Fabulous fine dining awaits you at The Rice House. On a more casual side, the resort's hunting lodge inspired bar and restaurant, The Woodlands Grill, is wonderful too (and they have an amazing breakfast buffet - don't miss it). And if you want something really laid back, the Beer Garden offers outdoor seating and a menu featuring sausages, pretzels and beer (and fire pits). Actually fire pits are located throughout the property and are the ideal gathering place for enjoying a beer or glass of wine while roasting marshmallows for S’mores.
