Join Frankie's Friends Doggone Run - A Virtual 5K Event

Help Sick and Injured Pets Receive Critical Medical Care

August 28, 2014
Fetch your sneakers along with Fido or Fluffy and join Frankie’s Friends Doggone Run anytime during the weekend of September 5 -7 for their annual virtual 5k event to help sick and injured pets receive the critical medical care they need.

It's easy and fun! A virtual 5k is just like any other race - but without an official location.  Register as an individual or create your team for fundraising and then run, walk, bicycle, skip or sit still during the designated race weekend: when and where you want.  All participants will receive a Frankie’s Friends Doggone Run dri-fit technical shirt as part of their runner’s goody bag.

Why a virtual 5k? Keeping the race virtual allows more of every dollar raised to help pets in need, like Lin.

Lin faced a life-threatening emergency when her lungs began filling with an infected fluid, and she didn’t have long. Lin’s family couldn’t afford the procedure needed to save the dog’s life, but Frankie’s Friends stepped in to help with the hospital bills. The fluid was drained from Lin’s lungs and her health quickly improved. Today, Lin is full of life and her owner is full of gratitude: "When you adopt a dog you don't expect to be faced with these tough decisions so quickly. I just want to thank Frankie's Friends and their donors for their support and for giving Lin a chance to live a happy, healthy life!"

Meet Xena

Xena faced a life-threatening emergency when her gallbladder became obstructed and she needed surgery before it ruptured. Unfortunately, Xena’s mom did not have the resources to afford this vital treatment. “I was heartbroken. I had been coping with my dad being terminally ill; the thought of possibly losing Xena was just unbearable,” she says. Frankie’s Friends, however, was able to step in and provide funds to cover the surgery in this family’s time of need.

Today, Xena is fully recovered and is back to her wiggly, friendly self. Xena’s mom is immensely grateful, and hopes to pay it forward. “I owe Xena’s life and much of my happiness to Frankie’s Friends,” she says. “It is my most sincere hope that I will be able to be a donor in the future to help others who might be in the same position.”
