An Early Fall in Atlanta. Festivals, Fairs & Fun This Week!

Smyrna Vinings Marietta Macaroni Kid - Your Weekly Events & Activities Newsletter

September 18, 2014
Fall definitely has arrived early in Atlanta. I guess the idea of a "Fall Break" in Cobb County wasn't so far fetched for early September! Our neighborhood had decided to keep the pool open for an extra week, but we never got there - obviously, too chilly.  Oh well - you certainly can't complain about this beautiful weather. Unless you are prone to allergy headaches like me. Bring on the icepacks and essential oils! And I'm forcing myself to drink lots and lots of water.

The photo above is of one of two piles in our backyard. We're now in an unincorporated section of Cobb County. Apparently burning is the way to go. (But not until October 1st). I'm a little hesitant to start this bonfire!! I think I'll be finding someone to haul this away, considering the stack is close to six feet tall! If you're all about the outdoors, you should plan to head to Chattahoochee Nature Center next Sunday for Outdoor Skills Day - where you can learn, among other things, how to build a fire. CLICK HERE for the flyer.

The Marietta StreetFest is this weekend and lots of other festivals around the metro (in Sandy Springs, Roswell). And of course the North Georgia State Fair opens today!  If you are thinking of heading downtown this weekend, just remember there is a LOT going on - Music Midtown in Piedmont Park, Garth Brooks at Philips Arena, Atlanta Braves are at home. It will be busy downtown!

I'm busy celebrating my birthday and the closing of our Smyrna house...ahh, to own only one home!!  Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the rest of this break before reality sets back in on Monday!
