Six Flags Holiday in the Park Now Open!

Enjoy Twinkling Lights, Roller Coasters, Exclusive Holiday Shows Through Jan. 4

By Michelle Sisco November 26, 2014
Six Flags Holiday in the Park opened Nov. 22 for the first time, giving amusement park fans a chance to experience holiday lights combined with the fun of roller coasters, exclusive holiday shows and more on select nights through Jan. 4, 2015.

We were invited to attend a media/VIP night opening on Friday, Nov. 21st and our family had a fabulous time! Even though my kids aren't huge fans of roller coasters (yet), they had a blast driving the Hanson Cars (amidst holiday lights), riding the Riverview Carousel (CANDELIGHT CAROUSEL) and the nearby "Up, Up and Away" buckets, and even hopping on a boat ride through Monster Mansion - with its characters fully decked out for the holiday season too!

Roller coaster lovers will no doubt get their fill of thrills on many of the park's signature rides, open during the holiday event. But they'll need to keep their eyes open to see the beauty of the park from up high, lit up with more than one million LED lights!

Of course, Santa will be waiting for children looking to leave their holiday wish lists. Take the North Pole Express, a magical train ride through 140,000 twinkling lights, to see the big man himself.

Hungry? Don't miss out on the special holiday food offering throughout the park. We enjoyed our hot chocolate and hot apple cider, chicken and waffles, and even a Thanksgiving feast! S'MORES VILLAGE also allows everyone to warm up by the open fire while roasting marshmellows. Looking for more sweets? Head over to PEPPERMINT PLAZA - featuring red and white holiday lights and peppermint funnel cakes!

Let your kids be surprised by snow! On Main Street, walk under the lighted canopy and experience artificial snow falling, seemingly out of nowhere. You'll find more near the Carousel too.

A beautiful display of peach-colored lights pays homage to Georgia's roots as the Peach State in A GEORGIA CHRISTMAS, along with the event's signature live show, "Because It's Christmas" in the Crystal Pistol Music Hall. Try peach-flavored holiday pies too at Big Mo's!

Many of the park’s family rides in Bugs Bunny World are open during Holiday in the Park, along with a new live show “Have Yourself a Looney Tunes Christmas” in the Bugs Bunny World Theater. In addition, this special event will provide guests with more than a dozen spots to snap a photo for their family holiday card with vivid lights shining all around. The boys loved the opportunity to get inside a "snow globe" (below).

RIDE LOVERS!
While we were at the park on a media night, I still imagine that crowds won't be nearly what you see during the summer months, so here's your chance to ride roller coasters to your hearts content, at night, with much shorter lines than usual. The following coasters are open during Holiday in the Park! And check out how cool Daredevil Dive looks!

Roller Coasters Open During Holiday in the Park
Acrophobia
Dahlonega Mine Train
Daredevil Dive
Georgia Cyclone
Georgia Scorcher
Goliath
We didn't have a chance to see the shows this time around - we were busy with rides and eating! However the good news is that Six Flags Over Georgia 2015 Season Passes are now on sale and provide unlimited visits to Holiday in the Park and all of 2015. For a limited time, with the purchase of a Season Pass four-pack or more, guests will receive free admission to both Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water, along with free season parking and visits to any Six Flags Theme Park with every pass.  CLICK HERE for more information and to purchase tickets (also check out our STEALS AND DEALS article for a discount offer on tickets)!
