By Sponsored by Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academies® January 22, 2015
A preschooler’s world is constantly changing. From gaining mobility and independence to the formation of brain cells and connections, every day can be an adventure for a young learner. One of the best environments to help your child optimize this developmental process is found in preschool. Leading preschools provide an accelerated foundation for elementary education. To take full advantage of that foundation, parents and teachers must be involved in encouraging children to develop and explore.

With the constant introduction of new information, parents may need to find creative ways to help stimulate an interest in learning. If your child needs a little help powering up the desire for learning, there are solutions that can help. Take a look at these creative ideas to stimulate your child’s interest in learning:

•    Make sure your child’s preschool provides a fun and interactive learning environment, including access to a playground, technology-filled classrooms and other methods of learning.

•    Try to find a childcare or daycare where learning is fun. Look for special projects in each class, and other creative activities like dress up days and holiday fun.

•    Get involved with the learning process by volunteering at your child’s preschool and sports organizations. Get the family involved as well.

•    Be sure to compliment and praise your child. Always affirm!

•    Look for ways to engage all five senses. Try to avoid having your child sit at a table to learn for prolonged periods of time. Some preschools offer learning stations for math, science, literacy and other stimulating subjects.

•    Read together at home. Go to the library and let your child select some of the books. While you are reading, try to imitate some of the characters.

•    Seek to find out what subjects your child likes. Visit places that further learning in those areas. For example, if your child likes airplanes take a tour of the airport or visit an airplane museum.

Children have different interests and learning styles. With help from parents and teachers, every child can develop an interest in learning at preschool and at home. Always remember to keep learning fun! Be engaged in your child’s learning experience, encourage and praise them and look for creative places and ways to grow their curiosity.
