SVM MACARONI KID REVIEW!
By Elli Heaton

We've run off and joined the circus! Not really, but I took my 7 and 10 year old boys to the "Greatest Show on Earth" Wednesday night to see the new "Legends" show by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey.  I have never been to the circus - no really. I've been to Cirque du Soleil several times, but never the circus and wasn't sure what to expect. We beat the traffic, arrived early and found everything to be going smoothly. We were greeted by animal rights protesters, but were not deterred on our exciting journey.  When we entered Philips Arena, the air was filled was excitement - everything was different than any concert or game that I've attended in the facility.  It was definitely a more kid-friendly, fun atmosphere that was indeed contagious. We were excited to join the crowd on the floor for the pre-show and found mingling with clowns and circus entertainers to be thrilling. It was definitely an added bonus and something not to be missed when attending the circus!

The Pre-Show starts one hour prior to showtime and is free with your ticket..

After the pre-show, we found our seats and the lights were lowered. The wonderful spectacle that fell upon my eyes was more than I could ever have imagined.  The opening act was amazing. All of the acts entered the floor and paraded through the Arena to the masterful singing of the Ringmaster Andre McClain, whose narration and singing throughout the show managed to hold my children's attention and keep them engaged in the show. Act after act, we were taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions from shock and awe to amazement! My boys enjoyed the clowns, the animals and the acrobatics, but were thrilled by the motorcycles driving inside the metal sphere!  Later, my youngest was entranced by the trapeze artists. When a person drove a motorcycle over the tightrope with a trapeze contraption connected below, I found myself captivated like a child.
There was a short intermission and though I had dutifully and frugally fed my children before the show,  I was delighted to find a $6 refillable soda deal at Phillips and $5 french fries, though the cotton candy my mother-in-law bought the boys was $14 - I of course did not purchase that! When the show returned, though very sleepy, the boys were still entranced, and upon the finale, we all agreed that this WAS the greatest show on earth and we WILL return!
