What's For Dinner? DoorDash Offer On-Demand Delivery

By Sponsored Article - Michelle Sisco, Smyrna Vinings Marietta Macaroni Kid Publisher May 19, 2016
Yesterday was my son's birthday. We decided to stay home, because he wanted to play with his neighborhood friends and enjoy his presents!  But as a result I had no plans for dinner...and the fridge we looking pretty bare. What's a mom to do?

Enter DoorDash, an on-demand local delivery service now in Atlanta, which has recently expanded to Smyrna/Vinings, Marietta, Roswell, Alpharetta and Sandy Springs. Whatever you're craving, you're likely to find it from the DoorDash offerings. For example, if you're in Smyrna/Vinings, you can choose from these restaurants (and more):

At around 6pm Wednesday night, I asked Drew what he'd like for dinner. I pulled up the DoorDash app on my phone (you can also order via DoorDash.com), plugged in our address for delivery and gave him some options: Mexican? Hibachi? Italian?  DoorDash allows you to sort restaurants by speed, category (delight) and price. It's still new to Marietta, so I didn't have as many options as you might in Vinings or intown...but that should change as the service continues to grow.

Drew decided he'd like a chicken parmigiana sub, so I chose Labella's Pizzeria. I scrolled through the menu and added his sub to our cart (there's a prompt that also allows you to make special requests). Next I added a salad for us to share, a pizza for myself and my husband, and meatballs for my younger child. I hit checkout - which then allows you to choose your delivery time (ASAP - under an hour) or you can choose a 30-minute window for later - if you've actually planned ahead. Add your payment information, your promo code if you have one (try ours- see below!) and even a tip for your driver. Hit "place order" and you're all set!

I received several texts prior my delivery through the app - letting me know that my order had been received, that it was being prepared, and later that "Madelon" would be delivering my order, and that she was approaching my house (You can check the status of your order via the app, which is very handy).

Right on time, our food arrived!

Sometimes it's really nice having the restaurant come to you! I haven't had Starbucks delivered yet, but I can't say it's out of the question.
