A Helpful Resource for Area Homeschool Families

Welcome to our resource guide for homeschoolers. Here we will list both weekly recurring and special events geared to homeschool families. While focused on Cobb County events, we are happy to list events at larger venues that might interest our readers (space permitting). Mar. 12 (Monday) - Homeschool Science Day at Chattahoochee Nature Center: Wetlands Underwater
Description: Students will study science topics linked to the ecology, geology, chemistry, physics, and natural history of this unique ecosystem.
Time: 1:45pm to 3:00pm
Cost: Included with general admission ($10 adults/$7 seniors & students 13-18/$6 children 3-12). CNC members free.
Reservations: No registration required * Programs appropriate for ages 5 and up

Mar. 14 (Wednesday) - Homeschoolers Ice Skating Program at Marietta Ice Center
Description: Skating for homeschoolers every Wednesday.
Time: 12:00pm to 2:00pm
Cost: $10 per skater

Mar. 14 (Wednesday) - Museum of History and Holocaust Education

The Museum of History and Holocaust Education invites you to our free Homeschool Days. Experience special guest speakers, hands-on activities, docent-led tours, and age-appropriate films. Homeschool Days are suitable for 4th grade and up, and RSVPs are required.
Time: 9:30am to 12:30pm
Cost: Free
Reservations: Required. Programs fill up quickly.

Mar. 14 (Wednesday) - HomeSchool Academy at Zoo Atlanta
Description: Join Zoo Atlanta for an afternoon of learning and discovery designed specifically for homeschool students! HomeSchool Academy is a unique program that allows students to explore animal and science concepts in a fun, interactive environment. Programs are grade-appropriate and include games, activities, Zoo tours, and animal encounters.

Mar. 14 (Wednesday) - Homeschool Day at The Southern Museum: Rail Towns
Description: Join the museum on the second Wednesday of each month for the Southern Museum’s Homeschool Workshop Series. Each workshop includes guided activities, tours, or demonstrations, plus a hands-on workshop and will focus on a different train-themed subject. Geared for ages 5-12.
Time: 10:00am to 1:00pm
Cost: $5

Mar. 15 (Thursday) - Garden Ecology Homeschool Series at Smith-Gilbert Gardens
Description: This series is designed to complement your existing curriculum with monthly ecology-themed, garden-based programs for students ages 5 and up. The Garden Ecology Homeschool Series is scheduled for the third Thursday of the month, September through April.
Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm
Cost:  Parent $7, First Student $15, Additional Student $13, Under 5 Free

Mar. 15 (Thursday) - Escalade Rock Climbing Gym: Homeschool Day
Description: Let the kids climb for only $8 and enjoy pizza too. Younger children (aged 4 and under) can hang out in the Kids Play Area for just $6. This event is held every third Thursday of the month.
Time: 12:00 to 2:00pm
Cost: $8 to climb and pizza for $1/slice. Younger children (aged 4 and under) can hang out in the Kids Play Area for $6.

Mar. 21 (Monday) - Bartow History Museum/Booth Museum: Herstoric Women
Description: Let the achievements of some extraordinary women inspire you. Enjoy activities about Pearl S. Buck, Hellen Keller, and Harriet Tubman through presentations, a trivia challenge, and other hands-on activities.
Time: 9:00am to 2:00pm 
Cost: $5 per student and $3 per chaperone

Mar. 30 (Friday) Homeschool Day at MODA
Description: Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) offers a monthly Home School Day with fun museum-educator-led programming and reduced admission. Home School visits are geared toward students in grades 5-12 and vary in length.
Time: Two Events. 10:00am to 12:00pm & 1:00-2:00pm
Cost: Varies by event

Apr. 5 (Thursday) - SkyZone Kennesaw Homeschool Day
Description: Home School Days offer Open Jump, Dodgeball, Sky Slam, and Foam Zone to all home school students of any age. Home School days are the first Thursday of every month during the school year.
Time: 11:30am to 2:30pm
Cost: $9 for 60 minutes, $13 for 90 minutes or $15 for 120 minutes. Socks not included. 
Reservations: Not required. Just show up.

Apr. 6 (Wednesday) - Atlanta History Center Homeschool Day - The Great Depression and the New Deal
Description:The Atlanta History Center offers special programs for homeschool students and their families. During these day-long programs, explore a different subject through engaging hands-on experiences, performances, historic simulations, and a variety of activities designed for kids from toddler to teen.
Time: 10:30am to 3:30pm

Apr. 13 (Friday) - High Museum of Art Homeschool Days
Description: The High Museum of Art offers special programming just for homeschool families on selected days throughout each year. Each day will focus on a featured artist, theme, or exhibition and there will be docent-guided tours and art-making. This program comes at no additional cost with the price of museum admission.
Time: 10am to 5pm
Cost: $7 per homeschool student, Regular museum admission price for adult

May 16 (Wednesday) - Atlanta Botanical Garden
Description: The Garden hosts an exciting day of tours and activities exclusively for homeschool groups and families. Supplement your life science, botanical and environmental studies curriculum by visiting a tropical rain forest and a desert house. Tip-toe through the treetops on the Canopy Walk and observe edible plants in the Edible Garden.
Time: 9:00am to 7:00pm
Cost: $10 per student/ $10 per chaperone (parking not included)
