All hail the Queen!
Take a break from the summer heat and head to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Duluth for dinner and an action-packed live performance. You'll be transported to an 11th-century Spanish kingdom, led by Medieval Times' first female-led ruler, Queen Doña Maria Isabella. The Queen invites everyone to enjoy a night of feast and epic battles between knights in a tournament of jousting, weapons combat, and horsemanship. Only the bravest and most noble knight will prevail!
I still remember the first time that my parents brought me to see Medieval Times in Florida. It's such a treat to share this experience with my family. My daughter loves stories and games with royal kingdom themes. While she can easily don a princess dress any day, she was absolutely thrilled to step in the arena before the show to learn basic sword techniques from the skilled knights and Weapons Master. At the completion of Junior Knight Training, she was giddy and proud when Queen Isabella honored all the Junior Knights in a group knighting ceremony.
Watching Queen Isabella ride into the arena on an Andalusian horse surrounded by her colorful royal court and presiding over the tournament was an epic experience. Having a strong female lead showed the young guests that leadership is truly limitless. We're happy to see this change included in the Medieval Times narrative after over 30 years of performances in castles across the United States and Canada.
We were in awe of the knights and horses through each event. They displayed their well-honed skills in various competitions, from jousting, weaponry, and horsemanship. We were so impressed with the riders and horses as they gracefully displayed leaps and promenades in unison. My daughter said it was like watching a ballet, but with horses. The cheers and jeers from the crowd roared throughout the arena during the tournament. We had a blast waving our banners as we cheered for our Red & Yellow Knight, who ultimately won the battle royal.

ON THE MENU
The royal menu was tasty and quite hearty. We feasted on garlic bread, tomato bisque soup (dragon's blood), roasted chicken (baby dragons), sweet buttered corn, herb-basted potatoes (dragon egg), and ice cream topped with caramel. Remember it's the medieval times, enjoy the main course with your hands. Silverware is not provided with the pewter bowls of soup/plates. We asked for a spoon to prevent a soup spill, and they kindly provided one. They also have a full bar for alcoholic drinks.
JUNIOR KNIGHT TRAINING
We encourage you to sign up your child for Junior Knight Training before the show. It's really a fun way to interact with the knights and get the kids revved up for the performance. Also, kids and adults can see the hard work, teamwork, and training necessary to become a knight and to perform safely in the show. The training is free with each child admission. We recommend showing up early on the days that offer Junior Knight Training (Sundays and first Saturday of the month). Sign up is on a first come, first serve basis. Doors open at 3 p.m. and the training begins at 3:30. Closed-toe shoes are required to participate.

OTHER TIPS
- Arrive early to explore the medieval castle, shops, and to take pictures.
- Parking is free, but try to park close to the castle exterior. The entrance is inside the mall.
- For guests who may be sensitive to lights and sounds, it can get a little loud in the arena and there are light transitions and strobes. Guests may want to sit the back row or close to the aisle away from speakers for easy access to the lobby for a break. Maybe bring sunglasses for the light transitions and earplugs to muffle the sounds.
- Utensils for younger guests are available upon request.
- A vegetarian meal option is available upon request.
- Booster seats are available upon request.
- A royal falcon, named Echo, soars over and around the noble guests during one part of the show. Remember to keep hands down and not reach up to touch the falcon.
- If you have allergies to horses, bring and take your allergy medications.
