As a busy working mother, I often have grand ideas to take my kids to do "all the things". After a crazy work week, sometimes I do not have the energy or the desire. The thing is, I have a three year old that is constantly trying to "do something" or "go bye-bye", as she says as soon as she wakes up every Saturday and Sunday morning! I do, truly, enjoy outings and experiences therefore, she gets it honestly from me. However, I do not want to go too far and I do not want it to be too complicated to participate in. This is why I love our community bubble because there is so much to do near and around us!
So...when I started seeing all the farms pop up on my social media feeds, and heard other parents in the community sharing they drove a hour, plus, away to take their kids to a farm, I decided "NOT IT"! Instead, I searched for something closer and found Sleepy Hollow Farm!
Sleep Hollow Farm was in a 30 minute drive range from Atlanta Cumberland area, Vinings, and Smyrna. However, it would be even closer for those living in Mableton, Austell, and Powder Springs, of. course.
I had a friend say she went 5 years ago, by herself, with a 3-year-old and she did not have a good experience. I almost did not go because I trusted her opinion. I decided to experience it myself, hoping that updates were made, and I am glad that I did!
My child and her friend had the best time there! Let me tell you about it!
One can go to their website and reserve tickets for a time slot. I learned that they only sell a certain amount of tickets during a given time so it is not too crowded, making it an enjoyable time.
Parking is organized by quite a few employees who direct us where to go and we hop on a tractor for a ride to where the action is!
When we got off the tractor, we are located in a place where there are tons of things for little kids to do! Here, you will find a sand box with play toys, trucks, and shovels. It was hard to get my daughter to move on from here! Several kids were enjoying playing her along side my daughter. There is a play house for hands on experience with farm toys, a kitchen, magnetic tiles, apple tree match activities, chalk board, and a horses tale braiding activity that was pretty cool!
There were swings, several different slides, play houses, corn husk shooting, and other carnival like games such as basketball hoops, among many other activities to entertain the kiddos! The kids got their face painted while we were there too! My daughter loved walking through the flower field pointing out butterflies and different color flowers.
At this same location were several vendors to get tasty bites to each such as funnel cake, tacos, and more. You can enjoy your purchased food at the provided picnic tables but I saw several families brought their own lunches.
There is a pumpkin patch where families can purchase pumpkins to take home and there is a store to purchase jams, popcorn, drinks, honey, etc. I definitely spent some money in this shop!
One thing I was worried about was bathrooms, especially with toddlers. They had several stalls of clean bathrooms and I was so pleased to see this! We used it as soon as we got there, of course!
If you get back on the tractor from this location it will take you to a petting zoo where families can visit with farm animals. This was so excited for the kids!
After that, you can hop back on the tractor that will take you to your parked cars. We had a great time, and took lots of photos at various places staged for us to do this!
I highly recommend taking the family for this great Fall outing at Sleepy Hollow Farm. It was such a great experience, except for the part where my kid did not want to leave!
