Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Poem & Proverbs

March 15, 2012

Saturday is St. Patrick's Day (as if you didn't know....). Make sure to scroll ALL THE WAY DOWN past the events section of this week's newsletter for some craft ideas and recipes too!

Thanks to Macaroni Kid PM Lesli Michel of Lodi, CA for these poems and proverbs. I had to laugh at the one about the dirty bird!  (As for the recipes, my kids won't touch corned beef, so Lucky Charms may be it for this weekend. Well, that and lots of potatoes!)

A Wish for a Friend

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

Irish Proverbs:

Lose an hour in the morning and you’ll be looking for it all day.
It’s no use boiling your cabbage twice.
It’s a dirty bird that won’t keep its own nest clean.
Never bolt your door with a boiled carrot.
Lie down with dogs and you’ll rise with fleas.
You must take the little potato with the big potato.
If God sends you down a stony path, may he give you strong shoes.
There's nothing so bad that it couldn't be worse.
However long the day, night must fall.
