Young Author's Descriptive Writing Camp
Two One Week-Long Sessions Held at Mathnasium in Smyrna For Grades 3-5
What better way to spend your summer than conjuring up intriguing ideas, meeting new friends, and becoming inspired by your own creativity? Exercise the “write” side of your brain and open yourself to a world of creative possibilities. At the Camp Thinkology’s Writing Institute, you’ll do all that and more as we explore the ins and outs of descriptive writing. Join the fun of discovering new words, dif-ferent ways to organize story ideas, and watch your descriptive stories come to life in the short span of five days!
CAMP HIGHLIGHTS
BASIC CAMP INFORMATION
Location: Mathnasium Center, 4600 West Village Place, Suite 3003, Smyrna, GA 30080
Two Sessions: June 18-22 (Grades 3-5) 8:45 am to 12:45 pm and July 30-August 3 (Grades 3-5) 8:45 am to 12:45 pm
Cost: $235 per week
Refund/Cancellation Policy: A refund, minus an $80 non-refundable deposit, will be issued upon a written request received by June 8, 2012. Camp Thinkology reserves the right to cancel any camps due to enrollment. In the event of cancellation, those pre-registered will receive a full refund.
REGISTRATION:
Enrollment is first-come, first-served, and each week of camp is limited to 14 students. Eligible students will be in grades 3-5 during the 2012-2013 academic school year. All registrations and payments will be taken online (www.campthinkology.com) using Paypal

CAMP HIGHLIGHTS
- Introduction to the 6 Traits of Effective Writing: sentence fluency, voice, ideas, word choice, organization, and conventions
- Exposure to the 5 stages of the writing process: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing
- Take home binder full of amazing writing resources
- Fun, engaging, hands– on approach to help nurture confidence and creativity
- AUTHOR’S PUBLISHING PARTY at the end of the week to celebrate individual successes
- Integrated daily grammar lessons
- Kinesthetic activities to introduce figurative language (similes, metaphors, and idioms)
