This updated production is the story you know with the music you love - favorites such as "I Won't Grow Up," "I Gotta Crow," and "Neverland." But the sets have changed to match what you're used to seeing these days on Broadway - gorgeous backgrounds and lighting, and of course- lots of flying! It's appropriate that Cathy Rigby was an Olympic gymnast. Granted, that was in 1972! Still, she plays Peter Pan perfectly, and it's hard not to believe she's just a kid. Her voice (particularly her speaking voice in this production) is simply remarkable.
Jack is not quite five, and was wide-eyed and excited throughout the show. He didn't want to miss a second of it! Watching him clap between numbers and cheer for Tinkerbell made my night. But don't think you have to be a kid to enjoy Peter Pan. After all, isn't that the point - we don't HAVE to grow up - do we?
