ATLANTA BOTANICAL GARDEN - October 12th, 9am to noon. The Garden hosts an exciting day of tours and activities exclusively for homeschool groups and families. Supplement your life science, botanical and environmental studies curriculum by visiting a tropical rain forest, a desert house and a native pitcher plant bog. Tip-toe through the treetops on the Canopy Walk and observe edible plants in the Edible Garden. The Garden also has a 2-acre Children's Garden focusing on the interactions between people, animals and plants. Special Presentation: Learn about Amphibian Conservation from Dr. Dante Fenolio, Amphibian Conservation Scientist at the Garden. Meet in the Georgia Pacific Classroom at 10 a.m. Garden Tours: Tours will take groups through the outdoor gardens and the Fuqua Conservatory to explore how plants can look very different. Meet in the Hardin Visitor Center. Tour times will be listed upon your arrival. Discovery Stations: Keep an eye out for fun and interactive stations around the Garden where your group can learn more about the garden’s living collections. Storybook Reading: Come and listen to an assortment of garden stories in the Children’s Garden Amphitheater.

COST: $9 per student | $9 per chaperone (max 2 per student)

RESERVATIONS: No registration required. Parking not included. No outside food or drink.

ATLANTA HISTORY CENTER NEXT DATE: October 10th. The Atlanta History Center offers special monthly programs for homeschool students and their families. Each month explores a different subject through exhibition tours and a variety of activities for kids from toddler to teen. October 10 from 1pm to 4pm - Strange History: Fact or Fiction? October is the perfect month to examine the history behind some of the weird and wacky legends and lore, monsters and myths, fairytales and fantasy, superstitions and supernatural stories that pervade our culture. Find out if fact is stranger than fiction.

COST:
Admission to Homeschool Days is $8.50 for nonmembers; $6.50 for children of members; and free for adult members. Discounted rates are available for groups with 10 or more children.

GEORGIA AQUARIUM - NEXT DATE: Tuesday, October 9th.  Georgia Aquarium offers educational programming to homeschool students through instructor-led programs at 1:45 pm on select dates. These 45 minute programs provide a focused learning opportunity where students can expand their understanding of aquatic ecosystems. All programs are aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) and include a downloadable Teacher guide with pre and post activities. All Instructor-Led programs include admission to the Aquarium and Deepo 4D Show.

COST:
Cost per student is $13 plus tax which includes admission to the Deepo’s 3D Wondershow movie.

HIGH MUSEUM OF ART - NEXT DATE - Friday, October 26th. Fast Forward: Modern Moments 1913 >> 2013 The High Museum of Art offers special programming and discounts just for homeschool families on selected days throughout each year. No advance reservations are required for admission on these days. Homeschool families must present verification of homeschool/non-traditional school status when purchasing tickets. Schedule: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Go on a scavenger hunt of the featured exhibition or artist and visit the other special exhibitions, permanent collection, and Family Learning Gallery. 1 to 4 p.m. Create your own masterpiece inspired by the artist or exhibition of the day in the drop-in hands-on workshop and read children's books that connect to the topic of the day.

COST:
$16.50 for adults (regularly $19.50), $7 for children (regularly $12); Museum Members receive FREE admission.

IMAGINE IT! THE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF ATLANTA - NEXT DATE: October 23rd. A fantastic program just for the unique needs of home school groups. Perfect for grade levels K-4, this program gives your students a chance to enjoy the Museum in a whole new way! Enjoy Imaginator-led special activities that teach important concepts from Math and Science to Language Arts and Social Studies. Program runs 1:00 PM-4:00 PM. October 23: The Magic School Bus Kicks Up a Storm; Focus: Science.
 
COST:  $8 per student for non-members; $4 per student for members, free for adults.

THE SOUTHERN MUSEUM - Homeschool Days return September 18th. Join the Southern Museum for programs designed especially for homeschool students and their families. Explore exciting history topics through tours of the museum’s exhibits, interactive lessons, and diverse activities.  September 18th: Women in the Civil War (Register by Sept. 11). 10am to 12pm. Ages 7-12. The story of women during the Civil War is an important, yet often untold one.  As the nation commemorates 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, join us in examining the impact women made on the battlefield and the home front.

COST: $5 per person.

STONE MOUNTAIN PARK - Special Homeschool Day September 28th. Home school students are invited to embark on a full day of education and adventure at Georgia’s #1 attraction. Train Talk Q & A; Learn about the Lasershow; Skyride Fun Facts; Learn about Antebellum Life; Learn to be a Quarryman; Plantation & Farmyard; Discover Stone Mountain Video and more. Plus, It's opening day of Pumpkin Festival! Get a sneak peek of this year's shows and activities.

COST: Special Adventure Pass Rate: $17 per person (plus tax)

ZOO ATLANTA-
1) HomeSchool Field Trip Days
- First Tuesday of every month. Self-guided tours.

COST:
$9 per participant, plus tax (free for members). One chaperone per every 10 students is free. Register Online.

2) HomeSchool Academy:
NEXT DATE: October 10th. Join Zoo Atlanta for an afternoon of learning and discovery designed specifically for homeschool students! HomeSchool Academy is a unique program that allows students to explore animal and science concepts in a fun, interactive environment. Programs are grade-appropriate and include games, activities, Zoo tours and animal encounters. HomeSchool Academy runs monthly on specific days from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., September through May.

$16 member/ $20 non-member
