Jonquil Festival, Taste of Marietta, Great Giveaways & More

This Week in Smyrna Vinings Marietta Macaroni Kid - Your Weekly Events & Activities Newsletter

April 23, 2015
I've been trying to get this week's edition out between a PTA Lunch, a piano lesson and two baseball games tonight. A few minutes here, and a few minutes there - eventually it all comes together. A little later than I'd hoped. Almost Friday!

Spring is a busy time - and now that we finally have some nice weather, we're back to our usual routine - meaning almost nightly trips to the ballpark. Our teams need to make up about four rained out games in the next week (per child). It's been a strange "spring" baseball season to say the least. There's something to be said for indoor sports!

I
t's definitely now the season of festivals. Smyrna Jonquil Festival and Taste of Marietta are both this weekend. A good reason (weather permitting) to enjoy the outdoors,  try some great food, let the kids run around like crazy - and maybe do some shopping too (perhaps for yourself for Mother's Day).

We enjoyed our day at the Big Shanty Festival last Saturday - and welcome to our many new subscribers. I hope you will enjoy SVM Macaroni Kid! Please like us on Facebook for daily updates, reminders and even bonus giveaways. And we're on Pinterest too with everything from recipes and craft ideas to links to area venues and attractions.

Many thanks to the following for donating to our prize wheel: Reid Shaolin Martial Arts Marietta, Georgia Renaissance Festival, Peachtree Sports FestivalTruePros.com and Uncle Maddio's Kennesaw & Akers Mill.

Also starting this weekend, participating cultural institutions will offer special admission deals for the general public (April 25th through May 1st) - BoGo tickets and even some free admissions. And these aren't just traditional museums - the list includes The College Football Hall of Fame, World of Coca-Cola, Tellus Museum, Georgia Aquarium and much more. Make sure to read the article about Museum Week!

Start doing your sun dances because I'm getting a little upset about Saturday's forecast. Let's just hope it's completely wrong about thunderstorms!  The Peachtree Sports Festival is INDOORS at Cobb Galleria on Saturday - with more than 15 sports for kids to "try out" plus guest speakers and much more. Check it out in THIS WEEK'S PICKS. Register for a sports clinic (free) and get free admission to the festival too!

We've got two GREAT GIVEAWAYS this week as well!  Enter to win two tickets to the Salute America Air Show May 9/10 - I can't wait to take my own kids! And Pippin is coming to the Fox May 5-10 and we've got two tickets to give away. Note that this show is probably best for ages 12 (at minimum) or up.  Read on!

WINNER!

Congrats to the winner of last week's giveaway to Red Sky Tapas & Bar ($20 gift card for lunch) - Michelle Y.  If you didn't win, be sure to download the coupon from this site (or just show it on your mobile phone) for $5 off lunch for two. Enjoy. We've got a special event at Red Sky coming up soon - stay tuned for more information next week!
