Learn Cool Stuff at campMODA this Summer!
Kids who attend campMODA design cool stuff while improving their science, technology, engineering, and math skills and having tons of fun. Presented by the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA), these camps teach the design thinking process through hands-on activities like bringing robots to life and programming them to perform project-oriented tasks and challenges, designing and building a virtual amusement park, studying Renaissance devices and inventing new gadgets, prototyping and learning about electronics and tackling real world problems through design thinking.
In 2015, MODA will offer a variety of design camps including LEGO Robotics, Building Quest: Design through Minecraft, Gadgets and Devices: Innovating with the Great Inventors, littleBits Circuitry and Design Academy for Middle Schoolers.
THREE LOCATIONS THIS YEAR!
This year, MODA is thrilled to offer these full- and half-day camps at three locations: MODA’s Midtown home, Georgia Tech and The Lovett School in Buckhead. Full- and half-day camp sessions are available.

Camps Run the weeks of June 1 through July 27 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Please check camp locations and dates. Not all camps are available in all locations.
LEGO Robotics Camp: ages 6-12
At campMODA, students learn the basics of designing and building a robot using LEGO WeDo®. They’ll bring the robots to life as they learn how to program their creations to perform project-oriented tasks and challenges. More experienced students will use LEGO MINDSTORMS® to develop sophisticated programming and engineering skills to create and control interactive robots.
Building Quest Camp: Design Through Minecraft: ages 8-12 (some half-day sessions available)
In this multi-player environment, Minecraft will be the vehicle to help develop math, science, engineering, and design skills. Campers will be charged with mission of designing and building a virtual Amusement Park by plotting the layout, building haunted houses and designing roller coasters and other rides. Creativity and critical thinking are the keys to success! Previous experience with Minecraft is not necessary.
Gadgets and Devices Camp: Innovating with the Great Inventors: ages 8-12
Gadgets and Devices Camp teaches kids about the remarkable machines designed and built by great innovators like Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Michelangelo and others. As they make a hands-on study of these Renaissance devices—building their own versions and inventing new gadgets and devices—they will learn how these designers solved difficult problems by inventing contraptions that could dive deep under the sea, lift heavy objects high in the air, see into the far reaches of the universe, and fly through the sky.
littleBits Circuitry Camp: ages 8-12 (half-day camps only, 9am – 12:30pm)
Using littleBits circuitry sets, kids will spend the week prototyping and learning about electronics and Hexbug micro robotic creatures. Kids will kick off the week by adopting a Hexbug and designing the environment in which it lives. After that, they’ll use littleBits circuitry sets to adapt, customize, and transform their Hexbug’s habitat to perform a variety of functions. At the end of the week, they can take their Hexbug home to continue playing with it and learning from it.
Design Academy for Middle Schoolers: rising 6th-8th graders
This design camp will take middle schoolers through the stages of the design process to tackle specific challenges.
